Behind the Glass: Local Artists Week
Pursuing one’s dream to be a working artist can be a challenge. It takes determination, imagination and pure grit. Many people have built their lives around their craft, but have you ever wondered what it takes to become a full-time, self-sufficient glass artist? From identifying a saleable product, to design and production, to running and managing a self-supported studio, there is an art to being an artist that is rarely seen by the public.
Join us on Thursday, March 9 for a special evening in the Amphitheater Hot Shop as we welcome six working glass artists from Corning and across New York State for a panel discussion on the challenges and rewards of pursuing this life, moderated by hot glass programs manager, Eric Meek. The audience is encouraged to bring questions to this informal presentation.
Museum Members at the Donor level and above ($135+) are invited to come early for a private reception at 5:30 pm. Please RSVP to +1 (607) 438-5600 or membership @cmog.org by March 7.Date and Time
