SUMMARY:Brick House Mural Project
DESCRIPTION:We want to let you know about a project we have been working on for several months. You may have recently seen Karin Fice (& Brett Steeves) on WETM\, WENY or on the front page of the Elmira Star-Gazette last Saturday. If not .you may or may not know\, David & Karin Fice co-own (with Karen & Mark Harrison) one of the newest breweries\, Brick House Brewery\, in Corning\, NY. We purchased the building (located on the corner of Bridge & Pulteney Streets) in January of this year. It is a really neat old brick building\, but as it stands its large boring\, blank brick wall on the Bridge Street side of the building is begging for life! \n\nWe contacted artist Brett Steeves\, from Hammondsport\, NY\, as we were familiar with his eye-catching artwork from a project he has been completing near another one of our restaurants\, Burgers & Beer of Hammondsport. We all felt that the Brick House Brewery building would be a magnificent "blank canvas" for some pretty cool artwork. After several discussions\, we decided upon the idea of a commemorative mural of Corning. Brett then created a rendering of this (seen in the link below)\, highlighting some of the past and current attractions of Corning the river as a mode of transportation (prior to the railroads coming during the 1800's) which helped allowed Corning to grow as a center for industry\, the glass history (of course)\, as well as the fall foliage. Brett uses a technique that really draws a viewer into the mural. Not only will the mural be a talking point for tourists and locals\, but a neat place to stand in front of to have a photo taken. The building is the perfect location to welcome people into Corning as they enter from the north side of the city while at the same time beatify this corner with vibrant piece of artwork titled\, "A Glimpse into the Past".\n\nAs this is an expensive undertaking\, we have launched a Kickstarter campaign (Kickstarter.com)\, titled "Brick House Mural Project" to fundraise for the project.\n\nWe are currently 40% funded with just over 12 days to go! ANY and ALL pledges are appreciated. Thank you in advance for any support your are able to provide!\n\n\n\nPledges accepted until June 20\, 2017 at 3:25pm!\n\n\n\nAny money being fundraised raised is NOT for Brick House Brewery\, but for the Mural Project. If you are not familiar with Kickstarter\, it is based on pledges and it is an "all or none" venture. If we meet our goal of $13\,000 by June 20th at 3:25pm\, the pledge money will be collected from supporters. If we do not meet the goal\, no money will be collected from supporters. \n\n \n\nWe have created a bunch of incentives for backers of the project\, including the option having Your Name in the Mural!
