DESCRIPTION:In Conversations with Myself:\n\nProjections of an Inner World\n\nA Solo Show Featuring Lily Quinones\n\nOn View October 21 - November 22\, 2024\n\nReception Friday\, November 1\, 4-7pm \n\n \n\nThe Evelyn Peeler Peacock Gallery at The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes is pleased to announce In Conversations with Myself: Projections of an Inner World\, a solo show featuring the works of Lily Quinones\, presented by Johnson-Schmidt & Associates Architects.\n\n \n\nOn display from October 21 - November 22\, 2024 at 79 W Market St\, Corning NY\, a reception will be held Friday\, November 1\, 4-7pm with an artist talk at 6pm.\n\n \n\nArtist Statement: Like many\, I am a habitual collector of pleasing things. In my free time\, I have been browsing\, looking for any eye-catching thing. Magazines I have never read\, family photos unearthed from dusty boxes\, and biology lab guides from freshman year of college all lay picked through on the living room floor. Making the compositions themselves\, whether through physical cutting and pasting\, or digital cutting and pasting\, is an exploration of my ongoing inner monologue with myself and life. I pair images and words that make sense to me\, but maybe not to others\; references only I may get. My intention is to rope the viewer into an exploration of their own inner monologue by projecting themselves onto the unknown of these cut-and-paste compositions. I hope my vulnerability opens up conversation to the complexities of emotion\, individuality\, and the inner struggle of finding oneself in a fast-moving ambivalent world. By striking a chord within myself I hope to strike a chord within others.
