As the new school year swiftly approaches, many parents of young children may find themselves wondering “Is my child ready to enter school?” or maybe even “Am I ready to send my child off to school for the first time?”
On their behalf the Nonnie Hood Parent Resource Center (PRC) in Corning has published a webinar “Kindergarten Readiness” to help parents take advantage of the remaining days to prepare their child physically and emotionally for the first day of school.
The 15-minute video was written and narrated by Brooke Bennett, center director and family educator. It has been posted on YouTube and the center’s own website, www.nonniehoodprc.org.
The webinar also includes a brief quiz to test parents’ knowledge and learning prior to and after viewing the video, and an opportunity to provide feedback about the webinar, and topics they’d like to see addressed in the future.
It is part of the PRC’s “Countdown to Kindergarten” education series which has also included a Q&A session with a Kindergarten teacher, a summer reading club for parents, and suggested reading lists for parents and children.
