Gossie and Gertie to Arrive Soon
2011 Visiting Author Olivier Dunrea
Saturday, September 24
10:30 am
171 Cedar Drake House Theatre
Open to the Public; Free of Charge
Children’s author and illustrator Olivier Dunrea will visit the Center to share his endearing tales of the beloved goslings, Gossie and Gertie, now an internationally acclaimed series,
delighting preschoolers and adults alike on Saturday, September 24.
"Dunrea's keen awareness of young children’s concerns and quirks translates into charmingly simple illustrations and text." (Kirkus Review)
"Preschoolers will relate to Ollie's point of view and delight in his humorous reactions to the new world he's discovering." (Booklist, ALA)
The fun starts on Saturday morning at 10:30am as Corning Children’s Center and 171 Cedar Arts Center partner for a morning of family fun centered on early literacy. What better way to learn about all that is curious and interesting, be transported to other worlds, and share experiences of characters stark or similar than through books? Dunrea will share his perspective, simple illustrations and narrative, along with diminutive heroes who assert a budding independence. Instill in children that authors are real people too, and any simple happening can spark a story – and that all hold the capacity to author.
