An artist talk will begin at 7:00pm.\n\nWhile I was born and raised in New York City\, I've lived in the Southern Tier for more than forty years. I began painting when I was in my twenties\, but a wife\, family and a career came along and the paints and brushes were put away until the kids headed to college. I've always been drawn to landscape painting and I find plein air painting particularly rewarding.\n\nWe live in a beautiful part of the world. Because we see it every day\, that beauty becomes commonplace and therefore\, at times\, invisible. We may pass a scene a thousand times\, but on a given day\, the light is just right or the weather conditions are unusual or we've never taken notice at this particular time of year\, and suddenly we are stunned by the magnificence of the landscape. That's what I look to capture a scene that may be familiar but\, because it's at a unique moment in time\, we're actually seeing it for the first time. For a landscape painter\, it's hard to imagine a better place to live.\n\nClose to Home celebrates the beauty of the Southern Tier and the Finger Lakes region. My hope is that the majority of people that see the exhibit will be able to say\, "I know where that is." X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:
