    The theme for this week's "Five Things" is the Arts, which beautify and enhance our community. Please take a moment to learn Five Things you didn't know about the Corning Painted Post Civic Music Association and The Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.
     

    Corning Painted Post Civic Music Association

    1.  We are the best kept secret of the region

    2.  We don't want to be a secret

    3.  We have an all-volunteer board who perform all tasks

    4.  We provide "In-School" performances in local schools

    5. We are the longest, continuing cultural organization in the community, celebrating 90 years!

     

    What ONE THING do we want people to think of when they think of our organization:

    We at the Corning Civic Music Association bring the world to Corning!

     

    The Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes

    1.  The Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes was incorporated just days before the flood of 1972

    2.  Monkey Run Stream runs underneath the building and can be heard rushing under the gallery on rainy days

    3.  Folk Artists & Glassblowers can apply for grants!

    4.  Our Gallery mascot Micah dresses for the weather and adjusts snooze locations in accordance to the position of sunlight in the room

    5.  We serve 251 Artist Members and 50 Cultural Partners in 2018, and would love for you to join!

     

    Our Goal for Membership is:

    To continue forming collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses and organizations in our community.
