Grant Writing Workhop
Session Objectives:
To explore the sources of grants and the purposes and characteristics of each;
To help organizations be better prepared before writing a grant proposal;
To explore the components of grant proposals and to develop strategies for writing effective proposals;
To examine the impact of style and format on the reader;
To highlight tips, tricks, and “how-tos” that can strengthen any proposal.
Note: The session combines presentation and workshop format. Attendees are encouraged to bring grants or grant project ideas to sharpen in the workshop portion
Cost: Registration cost covers morning and afternoon snacks and the lunch provided, as well as handouts. Please note: Your registration reserves a slot, and this reservation is non-refundable.
SRHN partners and IHS members: $25 per person
Non-members: $35 per person
Instructor: Kevin Williams is the Director of Project Planning and Resource Development for the Steuben Rural Health Network at IHS. He has served in the local nonprofit and education fields since 1990. He provides comprehensive research across public and private resources for health-related funding opportunities, convenes multi-agency groups around project development, and leads needs assessments and planning efforts that create fundable proposals for the community. He has also led strategic and integrated planning for Steuben and Chemung county services, and provided team development consultation for collaborations including the Steuben Prevention Coalition and the Steuben Domestic Abuse Review Team (DART).
