Rakow Reads: 1913: The Year Before the Storm
Join Kris Wetterlund, director of education and interpretation at The Corning Museum of Glass, for a discussion of 1913: The Year Before the Storm by Florian Illies. Illies tells a charming and riveting tale of a world full of hope and unlimited possibility before the beginning of World War I. The witty yet moving narrative progresses month by month through the year, interspersed with numerous photos and documentary artifacts, such as Kafka’s love letters. After the book discussion, take a curator-led tour of the Glass of the Architects: Vienna, 1900-1937 exhibition.
Light refreshments will be available; RSVP to rakow@cmog.org or (607) 438-5300.
