Stitch Lab Series: The Perfect Hem
Take one, two, or all three sessions to master hemming everything from denim to knits!
Pants hemming is an absolute superpower skill to have in your sewing toolkit! In this series, we’ll explore how to dial in the perfect length and flawlessly recreate original factory hems.
Workshop Schedule
All sessions run from 9:30 AM – Noon

Saturday, Sept. 19th — Hem 1: Denim & Twill (Woven / Non-Stretch Fabrics)

Saturday, Sept. 26th — Hem 2: Blind Hemming (Think: Dress Slacks & Trousers)

Saturday, Oct. 10th — Hem 3: Knits (Workout Pants, Leggings, T-Shirts)
Skills Required

Completion of our Beginner Sewing Series
-
OR the ability to sew straight seams on a machine, basic experience measuring/cutting fabric, and a basic understanding of clean-finishing seams.
Techniques You’ll Master

Accurately measuring, marking, and cutting pants for hemming

Recreating original factory hems for a crisp, professional look

Taming tapered-fit legs so the hem lays completely flat

Using a blindstitch foot for hidden, seamless hems
-
Hemming with a double-stitched flat-fell seam (classic jeans finish!)

Turning full-length pants into capris or shorts with a polished, intentional finish
What to Bring

Your Sewing Machine (with all its accessories, including a blindstitch foot for Hem 2) (We have 2 shop machines you can rent for the class at an additional $5 - please choose that option in the pull down menu.)
