5 Things: Rockwell Museum and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail

The theme this week is "Recreation." Summer is here, and with so many wonderful things to do in the Finger Lakes region, there's no need to be bored! If you are looking for some fun, here are Five Things you need to know about the Rockwell Museum and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail.

Five Things You Don’t Know About The Rockwell Museum

    1.  The Rockwell's Smithsonian Affiliation allows the Rockwell to host important Smithsonian artworks and exhibitions right here in Corning.

    2.  Alley Art Project? Yep, that's us!

    3.  Rockwell Dual Membership costs only $100 annually-with a value of at least $450!

    4.  Our new art lab is an extension of the museum- one ticket, two awesome experiences!

    5. The Rockwell serves over 13,000 young people annually through school tours, special outreach projects, and free family programs and workshops.

Our Goal for Membership is to increase awareness about the Rockwell with area businesses - our locals love us and are our best advertisers!

What ONE THING do we want people to think of when they think of our organization:
The Rockwell is more than a museum - it's a community center where our Corning neighbors and tourists alike are welcome to connect over art.

Five Things You Don’t Know About Seneca Lake Wine Trail

    1.  We have 31 member wineries. The Seneca Lake Winery Association is the organization behind the wine trail. Our office is small (2 full-time employees) but mighty! We are tasked with promoting our member wineries, marketing and selling tickets to our special event weekends, and growing Membership in our organization.

    2.  The Seneca Lake Wine Trail was founded in 1986, making it one of the oldest wine trails on the east coast.

    3.  Our member wineries produce wines made from grapes grown in the Finger Lakes or Seneca Lake American Viticultural Area. This is a requirement of membership. Our wines are Grown Here. Made Here.

    4.  Our slate of annual events brings thousands of first-time visitors to the Seneca Lake region. Many of these event attendees utilize our events as a “toe-dip experience.” In other words, it allows them to visit a number of wineries over the course of a weekend, getting a taste (literally and figuratively) of the Wine Trail. More often than not, after experiencing the event weekend, they learn their way around, figure out their favorite way to experience the Trail, and return for another visit in the future.

    5. While some do reduce their hours/days open, our wineries are open year-round. In fact, we are seeing more year-round visitation and would love to see that number go up! Our locals will love visiting in the shoulder season.

Our Goal for Membership is promotion for the year-round experiences and diverse wineries available on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail.

What ONE THING do we want people to think of when they think of our organization:
High quality wines produced and served by wonderful people in a beautiful setting.
